The keyboard shortcut for the move tool is V.
If you hold down shift+v the movement of the layer or group will be constrained either vertically or horizontally depending on how you move your mouse.
Holding down alt+v while moving a layer will duplicate the layer as you move it.
A number of tools allow you to utilise the move tool function by holding down ctrl or Option. The selection, brushes, zoom, type, and other such tools all let you move layers using the move tool if you hold down ctrl, so you don’t have to switch back to that tool just to move a layer.

Pressing ctrl+T or Option+T will activate the transform tools on the currently selected layer. The transform tool is part of the move tool.
